Serves: 6 – 8
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Ingredients
- 5 Granny Smith apples
- 60g Butter
- 125g Honey
- 3 sprigs rosemary
- 1 roll Puff pastry
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Extra honey for glazing
Method
- Reheat the oven to 220C
- For the apples, peel and slice in wheels about 1cm thick, leaving the core in.
- Melt the butter together with the honey in a heavy based oven proof pan about 20-25cm diameter
- Next place the apples and rosemary into the pan, neatly arranging them so the final tart will look pretty, and the apples will cook evenly
- Prepare the puff pastry by simply cutting it to fit the pan, no rolling or anything else needed
- Brush the puff pastry with egg wash before putting in the oven
- Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes or until golden
- Allow to cool for about 15 minutes and then loosen the edges
- To remove the tart, place a plate over the pan and then place your hand over the middle of the upside-down plate and turn the pan over so the tart fall onto the plate. You may have one or two apples that stay in the pan, that’s okay just gently place them back onto the tart
- Mix about 60ml honey with 30 ml boiling water and brush the tart with the glaze before serving
- Serve with whipped cream or ice cream
